Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre Helps Clients Take the Bus

Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre identified transportation as a key component in developing client independence. The most affordable and accessible form of travel in the Annapolis Valley is the public bus system; therefore, a course was developed to increase skills, reduce anxiety, and improve client’s comfort and confidence in using public travel. The bus course was created to troubleshoot foreseeable problems and provide flexibility to allow for individualization. The complete course is 44 pages in length and has comprehensive lessons on 21 topics. Included in the program are role-play activities, a Travel Plan Guide, a Client Passbook, and a video modelling resource.
