Our Services
We provide a continuum of progressive services and supports that are designed to empower people with diverse abilities to make their own choices, participate in decision-making, and to be contributors to and participate in their local community.
While services may vary across organizations, collectively the sector currently provides:
- Independent living services (community and facility-based)
- Access to employment opportunities
- Vocational training and skills development programs
- Social enterprise
- Access to a range of medical, health-related and other specialty services
- Positive behaviour support programs
- Low Arousal behaviour management services
- Outreach programs
- Adult service centres
- Day programs
- Recreation programs
- Respite care
Our organizations also have specialized expertise that we are willing to share with our counterparts in the Disability Support Program, Continuing Care and other related sectors. For example, Breton Ability Centre has specialized expertise in education and development and positive behaviour support programs using TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children) and Low Arousal Programming. As another example, Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre specializes in Assistive Technology Counselling.
